First Point Decon – Authorised Person Decontamination (APD) Services
At First Point Decon, we offer a full range of Authorised Person Decontamination (APD) services to support NHS Trusts and commercial facilities in maintaining the highest standards of decontamination compliance. Our qualified APDs are responsible for reviewing and verifying the periodic testing and validation of key decontamination equipment, including:
• Endoscope Storage Cabinets
• Endoscope Washer Disinfectors
• Medical Sterilisers
• Ultrasonic Cleaners
• Washer Disinfectors
Working in close collaboration with the Authorising Engineer (Decontamination) [AE(D)], our APDs ensure that all periodic testing and annual validation processes meet the necessary standards, as outlined in relevant HTMs, including:
• HTM 01-01 Parts C, D & E (Washer Disinfectors and Sterilisation)
• HTM 01-06 Part D & Part E (Decontamination of Flexible Endoscopes)
Each quarterly and annual test report is thoroughly reviewed by an APD, against a defined set of criteria, including temperature profiles, holding times, calibration data, microbiological test results, and relevant certificates. Reports include signed validation check sheets, and copies of APD qualifications are provided to support quality assurance and audit readiness.
Our services offer flexibility, whether your APD resource is in-house or outsourced. In cases where a dedicated APD is unavailable on-site, First Point Decon steps in to support the User (Operator) with permit-to-work systems, equipment periodic testing verification, and ongoing decontamination oversight.
All documentation can be submitted electronically in PDF format (our preferred method) for faster turnaround. We also accept hard copies, which are returned via tracked mail within two weeks. Additionally, on-site APD support can be arranged upon request.
